A blog for young readers (and YA lovers) from the Providence Athenaeum.
The Providence Athenaeum is a unique library and cultural center in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island. Growing out of the Providence Library Company (fourth library in the United States), the Athenaeum as we know it was formed in 1836. Our handsome building on the corner of Benefit and College was completed in 1838.
We are one of the few surviving membership libraries in the nation. Student memberships are available - visit or call for more information.
This blog is updated by one of our circulation assistants (and YA enthusiast), Amy. Follow us to find out what's new in our Young Adult corner, or just for a daily dose of literary shenanigans.
You can follow the Ath on twitter or facebook. Our catalog and much more information about us can be found at our homepage.
New to the Athenaeum’s YA corner is The Fine Art of Truth or Dare by Melissa Jensen. From Forever Young Adult:
Ella Marino spends most of her days being completely ignored by all of the rich, elitist kids who populate her posh Philadelphia private school, and that’s just fine with her… she has her two best friends and her one true love, Edward. Edward’s sensitive, romantic, talented and a bit moody. He’s also dead, and has been for nearly 100 years. Yeah, so, Ella’s a little taken with a historical figure, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t notice Alex Bainbridge. Smart, slick, and boyfriend to the meanest of the Mean Girls. That Alex Bainbridge.
But when Alex and Ella are thrust together for French tutoring, their chemistry starts sizzling, and it isn’t long before Ella thinks it might be time to dump Dedward Edward and try out someone with a pulse…
